Before the height of his career as a writer, poet, and literary editor, Edgar Allen Poe was in the military, and was once reprimanded for failing to show up to parade with white gloves, polished boots, and a cap. So, the next day after being reprimanded, Poe was buried alive and spent days still alive in the coffin, desperately scratching to get free.
