I spent the weekend visiting a parallel timeline. Some old alternate-college buddies of mine - they run a robot/blaster shop in Jetpack City.

We had a few Space-Beers (imported from one of those zero-G microbreweries in L5) and got talking about new times.

"It's 2007 and our timeline still doesn't have all the technological advances we were promised in the old science-fiction movies," said my friend, "I mean, where is our world-spanning network of computers? Where are my universal-healing clone cells? My sanity pills? My pocket communicators? Somehow, the pace of technology never caught up to our dreams."
