Happy Coming Out Day!

I got three messages from Harry S Truman today, on my answering machine.

The first thing he said was this: "Have you ever been swimming in a lake or river, and been standing on a high rock, wanting to jump back into the water, but a little scared to do so? You've seen other people jump and they were fine, but you still need a push, so you have someone else count to three, so that you will have a known and expected outside influence to drive you over the edge? Well, I think maybe holidays are like that. I think holidays come into existence, and into popularity, because they fulfill a need. Each holiday celebrates, explicitly or implicitly, something which people want to do, but which people feel they need to be gently pushed into doing. It's time to buy gifts for people you love! It's time to boldly being a romantic endeavor, or pay attention to one! It's time to have a summer barbecue! Every holiday is an activity, and if the holiday catches on, it's because that activity is something people have been waiting to do."

On the second message, Harry said: "Because of a loophole in the U.S. Constitution, I am the only human being permitted to have more than two terms as U.S. President. Once the technology is available, I demand that my followers reanimate me, and that I become President-for-Eternity!"

On the third message, Harry asked me to administer a history test, so here goes.

The test is very biased toward the United States of America. If you are reading this, and are not interested in 21st century U.S. history, please make the test more entertaining for yourself by pretending you a mischievious cartoon mouse while you take this test.

This test will repesent 20% of your grade. Round all dates to the nearest date listed. Spelling counts.
