The Hungriest Angel

There's an old expression. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, shame on Bryan Shutman of Poughkeepsie, Illinois."

I spend this past weekend looking into that expression more deeply. I met Bryan in Poughkeepsie. he works in purchasing and is an amateur beekeeper.

"Yeah, I used to feel a lot of shame about that," he admitted, "But after a few decades, I really stopped caring. One more thrice-fooling on top of everything else hardly registers anymore. I just do volunteer work a lot, and I feel pretty good about myself these days."
